The bride surnamed Li cut her wrists and tried to commit suicide after her boyfriend broke up with her just before the marriage.

People at the station rushed to her aid, wanting to take her to hospital, but she shrugged off all offers of help and continued on her way, insisting she was perfectly fine. According to an officer at Idalgashinna station, the young woman is an 18-year-old resident of the Wewagalwatte area. He added that since the accident she has been seen fit and well at the station several times.
She’s from Romania, her name is Rifca Stanescu, she’s a member on the Gypsy ethnic community, and she’s only 23 years old. She ran away with her husband when she was 11, gave birth to her first child Maria when she was 12, and Maria, who married at 10-years-old, gave birth to her own son Ion one year later.
