Inmate Confesses to Shooting Tupac Shakur in 1994

A federal inmate named Dexter Isaac has confessed to shooting Tupac Shakur in a 1994 gunpoint robbery. Isaac says he was hired to rob the rapper by music exec James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond. Tupac died two years later in another (possibly related) shooting.

Although Tupac himself implicated Rosemond in the shooting, Rosemond’s lawyers dispute Isaac’s confession. The statute of limitations on the attack has expired, but prosecutors could still go after Rosemond on racketeering charges.

In his statement, Isaac implied that this might help solve the murders of both Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G. “I want to apologize to [Shakur’s] family and for the mistake I did for that sucker [Jimmy Henchman]. I am trying to clean it up to give [Tupac and Biggie’s] mothers some closure.”
