Never before in the history of Apple product announcements has the famously company confirmed the name of a gadget in advance. But that’s what happened Tuesday when the invites arrived for a special event on September 12 — featuring a giant 5 in the shadow of the date.
Confirming earlier reports, Apple today issued media invitations for a special iPhone event to be held next Tuesday, October 4th at the company’s Town Hall auditorium at its headquarters in Cupertino, California. The event is scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM Pacific Time.
AllThingsD says sources have pinned down the date of Apple’s iPhone 5 launch event: Tuesday, October 4. They expect the new phone will be available for purchase “within a few weeks” after it’s announced.
Of course, this is just pure speculation, but no doubt having a brushed aluminum back similar to the first iPad would be kind of nice.
