Canadian goalkeeper makes history with goal at U-17 World Cup

In 24 years of FIFA World Cup competition, Canada’s U-17 national soccer team has never won a match. They hadn’t even played to a draw during a 13-match streak in which they’d been outscored 45-3.

That changed last night in Pachuca, Mexico, when backup Canadian goalkeeper Quillan Roberts scored a miraculous equalizing goal with three minutes remaining in the match to earn a 2-2 draw against soccer superpower England.

Marijuana Legalization Bill

The cannabis industry has flexed its muscles in 15 states where it’s legal to smoke marijuana for medical purposes. Now the industry is ready to go to work in Washington. A new trade group called the National Cannabis Industry Association is an attempt to bring together sellers, growers and manufacturers and to promote pot on Capitol Hill. “Our intent is to be the go-to organization in Washington for this industry,” said Aaron Smith, the group’s executive director.

Frank stressed the bill was “not a legalization bill,” telling reporters it offered limited-government politicians the perfect opportunity to put marijuana where their mouth is.
